The aim of the project was to increase understanding and to define the relationship of the strata and tectonics with large intrusion systems and the geothermal metal mineralisations associated with them in the NE Jameson Land Basin area in East Greenland.
ÍSOR's role is mainly threefold:
- To map the strata and their structure on the basis of seismic reflection surveys.
- To work on a three-dimensional conceptual model of the crust and sedimentary layers of the area.
- To compare the strata on the east coast of Greenland and the Jan Mayen Ridge with respect to their common origin and the opening of the ocean between them.
