ÍSOR's strategy

Consultancy related to the geosciences and the use of geothermal energy is ÍSOR's main source of revenue. Geological map-making and geoscientific research for construction, landslides, earthquakes and volcanic activity are also among its services. ÍSOR also provides teaching and education in geothermal science and technology and runs the Geothermal Training Programme, to name a few.

The nature of ÍSOR's work is such that it supports all the pillars of sustainable development. ÍSOR's governance structure relates to them directly. We therefore believe we can truly adopt our motto: ÍSOR – sustainability in action.

As is well known, the Icelandic authorities have made sustainable development a priority in all their policy-making. They have also set out priority objectives based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. ÍSOR has knowledge and experience in various fields that is useful in implementing and carrying out government policy that leads to results in sustainable development. We focus in particular on Sustainable Development Goals numbers 4, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13 and thereby support government policy and the Goals.

ÍSOR's ambition is to be a world-leading advisor in the sustainable use of earth resources and to strongly support Iceland's policy and priorities in environmental, resource and energy matters, both domestically and in international cooperation.

ÍSOR's solutions aim to benefit the Earth and people and to deliver prosperity, while ÍSOR operates in accordance with good governance.
